MBC is Canada’s largest Christ-centred conference and retreat centre, located in beautiful Muskoka Canada, only 2 hours north of Toronto, Canada. With over 200 acres of beautiful Muskoka property, MBC is a popular destination for family, church groups, company getaways, and many more.
Founded in 1930, MBC has been serving the church for 80 years. Muskoka Bible Centre exists to exalt Jesus Christ by renewing, connecting and equipping the family of God in the splendour of His creation.
This is accomplished through the provision of camp, conference and retreat experiences where the teaching of God’s Word is central.
MBC is an independent, inter-denominational organization that was founded in 1930 by the Fellowship of Evangelical Baptists. While recognizing its roots in the Fellowship Baptist movement, it embraces and supports the cultural diversity of Christ-centred Kingdom ministries and people in accordance with its statement of faith.
MBC operates a 230 acre conference and retreat centre, as well as a children’s camp facility (Camp Widjiitiwin), in the Muskoka region of Ontario, Canada. MBC plans and executes an annual schedule of compelling community experiences in support of its over-riding mission. These experiences are focused on teaching the Word of God with an emphasis on encouraging and strengthening families. MBC also offers the facilities and services of the centre to other like-minded ministry organizations in support of their spiritual retreat objectives.
Summer Bible Conference – some 4,000 guests attend our 9 weeks of summer family programming. Families are strengthened (building memories together), faith is strengthened (Bible teaching) and children and youth have positive role models to reflect on. More than ever, our guests are using these experiences to bring families who have limited faith background and so we are seeing adults come to saving faith each summer. In 2010 we are partnering with a family support organization to encourage families in practical everyday life through weekly seminars and training.
Camp Widjiitiwin – our children’s day and residential camp program. Each year we see some 400 to 600 children and youth enrol for a week of high impact Bible teaching, role modeling and creative outdoor play. In 2009 we launched a partnership week with the Toronto Police and Scripture Union to provide a special camp experience for 30 ‘youth-at-risk’ from the Malvern region in Toronto. In 2010, this partnership will expand to 60 campers. Many parents have testified that their children are positively changed as a result of a week at camp. Camp Widji also provides leadership training experiences for about 48 youth each summer through our S.A.L.T. program. These leaders in training typically move into camp staff roles in subsequent years.
Stepping Stones Discipleship – launched in 2009 as a pilot at MBC and then officially being launched in 2010, this program is intentional about creating a holistic discipleship/life training experience for up to 100 youth annually. These youth range in age from 15 to 25 years. The focus is on experiential training in the areas of ‘spiritual formation’, ‘community life’ and ‘work excellence’. This program has been developed in partnership with Fair Havens Ministries where it was originally launched in 2003.
Women of Grace Retreats – four events are programmed annually with a total enrolment of some 500 to 600 women. These events are designed to encourage women in their spiritual faith and in the positive fulfillment of their role in their home community, church and family.
Conference & Retreat Centre – each year more than 50 church and para-church organizations utilize our facility for their spiritual retreat purposes. This translates into serving more than 2,500 individuals. These groups include special partnerships with the Fellowship of Evangelical Baptists to encourage pastors and their wives in ministry.
In total, more than 10,000 guests are renewed, revived and refreshed annually through the various programs of MBC.
